Community participation is about more than attending an activity. The right support can help a participant build confidence, maintain relationships, try new interests and take part in everyday community life.
Attending social, recreational or cultural activities
Appointments, shopping and community errands
Using public transport and planning travel routes
Support to attend education, volunteering or skill-building activities where funded
Exercise, wellbeing and leisure activities
Maintaining friendships and community connections
Trying a new activity with support
Developing confidence, communication and practical community skills
Activities are chosen with the participant. The participant remains responsible for ordinary personal costs such as tickets, meals, memberships or purchases unless their plan and the current NDIS rules specifically allow otherwise.
Where agreed, a worker may drive the participant during a community-participation service. The support time and any separate kilometre, toll or parking charge are explained in the service agreement before the service begins. See our Pricing page for the current transport wording.
